polymer clay applique technique tutorial

It's our Year of Veneer!

Today Kira is joined by her nephews- they helped condition the clay, and then we used mini plunger cutters, circle cutters, and hot fix cabochons to create Polymer Clay Trading Coins using the veneers we made. Each person chose three colors of clay- one for background and two for pattern making, and we laid our clay pieces out and rolled the sheets through the pasta machine until they were flat.

The most important thing to remember when doing this polymer clay technique is to change the direction of the sheet of clay each time you roll it to the next smaller thickness- this way your pattern stretches out evenly as it is pressed into the clay.
