FOCUS ISSUES: Miniatures & Faux Effects

Miniature and faux effects just seem to go together, at least in my opinion. Both "trick/fool" the eye into seeing something different than originally thought. Cover Artist Mariangela Gagliardi is truly a master of miniature art. Her delicate and intricately detailed miniatures are breathtaking. From food that looks good enough to eat, to flowers so delicate and minute that they seem impossible, and beyond. We are thrilled to share her art with our readers. The Polymer Chef whips up a tutorial for gorgeous faux Unakite, a stone with festive red & green shades. I'm sharing a tutorial for miniature gingerbread house earrings, and our other contributing artists have got fantastic faux and miniature delights for you to try for yourself. Learn more about artist Monika Duchowicz who creates wonderfully lifelike and detailed miniature animals. In The Color Corner with Jessica Hager, Jessica shares how to create a "delicious" Cookie Fest color palette. Check it out and learn how you could possibly be published in an upcoming issue. And, as always, our Gallery has many unique projects to inspire you! Thank you to all who participate in our monthly challenges! We would love to have you share your versions of the techniques and projects each month in our Create Along Polymer Clay Tribe Facebook group - an amazing, creative, interactive community with over 19,000 members from around the world. Join the group at PolymerClayTribe.com.As always, we encourage all artists to submit their work for consideration for upcoming issues. Passion for Polymer is YOUR magazine. We want to continue to highlight the work of a variety of creative artists from around the world, with vastly different styles, and the best way to do that is by inviting all of you to share your work! You can find our submission information, themes, and deadlines at PassionforPolymer.com.

    Why buy CreateAlong?

We've been supporting the clay + crafting community since 2007. Kira has a B.S. in Art Education and has been teaching since she was 13- her first job as a summer camp counselor. Our tools are thoughtfully designed, tested, and many have product demos on our YouTube channel @polymerclaytv, with over 800 videos ready to watch.

    FAQ's

    Who makes the products?

We are a small business woman-owned and operated from north Florida. Kira is the owner and designer, Shannon is the Mistress of Manufacture operating our 3d printers, lasers, and other equipment, and Erin is our Shipping Elf.

A very few of our products- such as our metal sculpting tools, are curated wholesale from various places since we do not have metal manufacturing capabilities in our in-house shop.

How can I care for my products so they last?

To ensure long life, you should always use a soft cloth and water if necessary to remove excess clay, paint, mica powders, or glue residue from the tools immediately after use.

Especially for silkscreens- paint must be rinsed away before it dries on the screen or else you may permanently ruin it by clogging the tiny holes.

    Do you ship internationally?

Yes, we ship to Canada and Australia here - we ship everywhere else on Etsy because of the current state of the USPS. Etsy has more protection- for you, and for us, with international packages. Shop our ETSY.

What if I don't like what I bought? Return policy?

If you don't like what you purchased, you can claim a store credit for the item within 60 days for 90% of the product purchase price. Or, send it back unused within 60 days for 100% refund on the product purchase price.

    What if something arrives broken?

We have a no-risk policy. If something is broken in the mail please email us a photo (we really want to see what happened so we can fix the issues) and we'll send you a new one.

How do you ship? How long does it take, and do I get tracking?

We use USPS Ground Advantage for most packages. We try to ship within a day or two of your order. Sometimes- because our Mistress of Manufacture lives over an hour from the shipping workshop, it may take a little longer if we are waiting on supplies to be restocked. You will receive tracking via email and you can log in to your account to see past orders and tracking.
