FOCUS ISSUES: COMPONENTS

This month, explore the details that bring your polymer designs to the next level. Components - wire work, bezels, cabochons, findings, bead caps, clasps, bales, unusual combinations of shapes... Sometimes thinking outside of the box can be a wonderful thing. Our cover artist is Susan Magner. Susan combines components wonderfully, often adding handmade wire accents and unexpected items like felt. See more of her art and learn about her love of polymer clay in her feature article. Susan also shares a fun tutorial for trumpet beads as well as some clever wire accent beads. The Polymer Chef creates lovely bead caps with "leftovers." I'm sharing a few ways to make easy spacer beads with clay scraps. You'll also learn to make your own custom findings, how to make your own toggle clasps to match your designs, and a simple Mokume Gane technique with great results, which is then combined with an interesting combination of shapes for an eye catching art jewelry necklace. In The Color Corner with Jessica Hager, Jessica shares how to create a lovely color palette inspired by the Pantone® Color of the Year - Very Peri. Check it out and learn how you could possibly be published in an upcoming issue. And, as always, our Gallery has many unique projects to inspire you! Thank you to all who participate in our monthly challenges! We would love to have you share your versions of the techniques and projects each month in our Create Along Polymer Clay Tribe Facebook group - an amazing, creative, interactive community with over 20,000 members from around the world. Join the group at PolymerClayTribe.com.As always, we encourage all artists to submit their work for consideration for upcoming issues. Passion for Polymer is YOUR magazine. We want to continue to highlight the work of a variety of creative artists from around the world, with vastly different styles, and the best way to do that is by inviting all of you to share your work! You can find our submission information, themes, and deadlines at PassionforPolymer.com.
